Pool Table Moves
Breaking the table down at one address and building it back true at the next.
Fort Worth, TX
Pool table moving, setup and new cloth across Fort Worth and Tarrant County.
North Texas sits on clay that swells when it rains and shrinks when it does not, and slab foundations ride that movement. Most of the time nobody notices, because a house has enough give in it to hide a small shift. A pool table does not. Three quarters of an inch of slate ground flat will report a floor that has moved by a fraction, and it reports it as a ball drifting toward one rail on a table that played straight last year.
That is worth knowing before you assume something is wrong with the table. Very often nothing is: the slate is fine, the frame is fine, and the fix is shims and an hour of patient reading rather than anything dramatic. It is also why a table that has sat through a dry summer is worth checking before you invest in new cloth.
The other two jobs we get called for here are the garage room, which is its own set of problems in August, and the upstairs game room in a newer subdivision, where the stair turn decides everything before the tape measure comes out.
Moving it, setting it up where it already stands, or putting new cloth on it. Pick the one that matches your table today.
Breaking the table down at one address and building it back true at the next.
Setup and levelling for a table that is in the room already, or one coming off a store truck.
New cloth on the bed and rails, with the slate read for level while nothing is covering it.
A price needs three things: what the table is, how it gets out and in, and what it is standing on. Size and slate type come first, because a one piece slate bed rules out stairs that a three piece bed would manage. Then the route at both ends, including how close a truck can get. Then the room, which in this part of the world means asking whether the floor is slab, and whether the room is air conditioned.
Give us those and the number that comes back is the number. Guess at them and the day of the job becomes a negotiation, which is worse for you than an honest quote.
If a table cannot be moved the way you are hoping, you will hear it at the quote, not when it is half apart in the hallway.

Most often the ground did. Clay soil swells and shrinks with the seasons and slab foundations move with it, by amounts a house absorbs and a slate bed does not. The table itself is usually fine. Re-levelling with shims is the normal fix, and it does not require stripping cloth that is still good.
Yes. Levelling works on the frame and the slate, so sound cloth stays where it is. If the cloth is due for replacement anyway, doing both in one visit is less work than two separate trips.
It is a compromise rather than a mistake. A garage slab usually falls toward the door, so expect shimming, and summer heat is hard on glue joints, pocket leather and the rubber in the cushions. An insulated, conditioned garage is a genuinely good room for a table.
It changes what is possible. Send the width at the narrowest turn of the staircase and say whether the slate is one piece or three. Three piece beds go up in sections; a one piece bed frequently cannot, and we would rather tell you that at the quote than halfway up.

Clear the table and the path it has to travel, put pets somewhere else for the duration, and have the gate code or the HOA rule about trucks in hand if either applies. If the work is in a garage, an early window beats an afternoon one in summer.
